Iams (Natural Chicken)

The now well known “Healthy Naturals” petfood line from Iams is a bit better than some of their other products but not much better. Like the Iams (Original with Tuna) this is a bit better and the price is much lower. Let’s look at what is in the bag for the price you are paying.

The product starts off well enough with chicken as its main source of animal protein and then follows with chicken by-products.

After the main sources of animal protein, it goes where the rest of the brand normally goes and that is into grains. They have added some chicken meat and eggs as added protein sources further down the line in terms of overall weight. Fish oil has also been added for omega fatty acids and they have added a bit of good grain in such as barley.

They have finished off the product with a multivitamin and also added apples and peas into the dog food which you would normally only find in the high-end products. Overall the product is good and is well within the price range in which they market it.

What is good about this food

It comes as a good price with a good source of protein being chicken and a bit of chicken meal added in some vegetables to balance off the diet. This is more likely than not the best food you are going to find at your local Walmart store next to Kirkland dog food. Between the two I would rate Kirkland a battered food and this playing second fiddle. Its a well-balanced product for the mass consumer market and much better than the other products they offer such as Iams Original which is overpriced.
