Taste Wild (High Prairie)

This is another high-end grain free product from Taste of the Wild for the dog food market. The concept behind their food is to give dogs what they are supposed to end in the wild. Dogs don’t eat grains in the wild.

This is a medium priced dog food but looking at the first two ingredients you know it is going to be good. The first ingredient which makes up the bulk of the product is Bison followed by venison. The very next ingredient is a chicken meal and lamb meal and this is followed by the egg as an additional source of protein.

You have a mixture of lean and high protein meat being bison and venison. This is rounded off by lamb meal and also with a chicken meal. Note that it is ‘meal’ which is good as it shows that the water has already been removed before they made the product. This gets you more protein in a small space. Think of it as concentrated protein. These make up the bulk of the product being all animal proteins of different kinds with egg added in at 5th place.

For fruits and vegetables, this is one of the best being blueberries, tomato, and raspberries. They have also added ocean fish meal to the product to give it a good round off.

Good Points:

There are many. The first being 4 high-end sources of animal protein followed by eggs and fish meal. There is a good balance of vitamins and minerals and above all of this, you have fruit and vegetables added to the mix. This is an excellent product and would be money well spent on a grain free product with added probiotics for better stomach flora in your animals.
